The Grange Care Home

The Grange was converted from a beautiful Victorian home in 1950, and is set within tranquil landscaped gardens. It is also ideally situated within walking distance of Goring Village, which offers a good selection of shops, restaurants, leisure activities and transport links.

We aim to improve the quality of life for every resident living in our home. Our commitment to the individuals we support can be seen across the board, not only in our care, but in our cooking, hospitality and activities. Our skilled chefs are passionate about providing nutritious and delicious homely meals, whilst Geraldine, our full-time activities coordinators has an extensive activities programme, with something for every residents’ interests and needs.

All the rooms at The Grange care home are centrally heated, well appointed and tastefully furnished, with facilities for television and telephones. The majority of rooms have en suite bathrooms and all have individual wash basins; several rooms also have their own sitting rooms. We have single and double rooms available for married couples.

Residents at The Grange are encouraged to bring personal effects, furniture and treasured belongings to help make it their own home.

DEMENTIA CARE

The Grange is dedicated towards providing a safe, homely environment for people living with dementia, we strive to ensure the care we provide supports residents’ freedom of choice. We aim to maintain their life-skills, improving their self-esteem and helping them to maintain and develop their independence while they are living with us.

Staff undertake specialist dementia care training with experienced training providers. Working together with dementia specialists, they ensure our training programmes are informed by the very latest thinking. We ensure that the people we support feel comfortable and safe in their surrounding environment, helping ensure they live life with dementia or without, to the full.

Food and Drink

As a member of the The Grange family you will find that there is plenty to choose from. All meals are home-cooked in our kitchens from fresh ingredients, by our chefs Karl & Lisa, and menus as well as changing regularly are tweaked weekly to keep food fresh, in season and relevant. You are offered a choice at every meal.

A great deal of time and thought is given to the menu with excellent food being served in the dining room at main meal times, and breakfast served in rooms. The main meal is lunch with a light hot supper in the early evening. Individual diets are catered for and residents are encouraged to participate in meal planning at the residents meetings. We also welcome visitors to enjoy a meal with us at The Grange.

Activities

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

My job is to oversee the day to day shifts as well as the lead person responsible for medication at the home.

I’ve been fortunate enough to work alongside Sarah before she became manager and it’s a pleasure to work alongside colleagues, family & friends.

I love my role supporting the team to deliver the very best care to our residents.”

Activities Coordinator

Geraldine Sarson

Joined 2019

“Hi. I’m Geraldine and I have  worked at The Grange since 2018, I did my induction at the end of the year and then started in January 2019 in the role of Activities Coordinator.

I have a passion for working in the care sector and have gained experience of working in an activities role with a previous national care group. I have always enjoyed being creative, and working for a small company means we can create a programme that truly suits our residents.

The best thing about my work is that I can put a smile on people’s faces and help them enjoy a variety of interests, old and new. When I’m not at work I love to read, listen to music, holiday and enjoy my husbands fabulous cooking!”

Batista Pettinato

Joined 1985

“Ciao, I’ve worked at The Grange my entire adult life since moving to England over 50 years ago in my twenties, it has changed a lot since the early days. We now have twice as many rooms and another home.

I’ve had the pleasure to now work with 3 generations of the Northey family since Colin bought the home in 1985, from Grandfather to Grandson.

My real passion is gardening, and I’m fortunate enough to be able to spend most of my summer outdoors, at work and at home.”

As a senior carer I’m responsible for inducting all new starters at the home and ensuring they meet the high level of family orientated care we aim to provide.

My week is varied at the home and ranges from caring, to care plan reviews and shift leading. I’m just about to go on Maternity leave for my first born, and look forward to coming back later in 2021.”
